Holidays...

As we were slowly drifting into a New Year, I could not hide the expectation that was brewing inside me.
I really wanted for this year to come to an end and embrace the new one, so we can finally go on with our lives and enjoy every minute of it as the New Year is bringing all the best. If you have read my previous blogs you know that the year of 2015 wasn’t the best and to top it off Mr. Jack got really sick just before Christmas.

Poor baby was not himself, sleep deprivation and walking in circles really took his energy. It was the day before Christmas and we really thought this is our last one together and that really pulled the mood down.
As for my ending of this post I have to say that I am so grateful for all the good things that happened in the last year, for the people who surround me, for Mr. Jack’s health and for you lovely people who continuously read my blog, thank you very much.

I didn’t mention it before, because I wasn’t sure what is wrong with him, plus there wasn’t any time to write. Everything happened so fast, this whole Christmas period flew by. Two days after the pest control sprayed the carpets Mr. Jack suffered a seizure, like an epileptic attack though he is too old for them and he never had them before. We took him to the Vet, but the clinical picture was fine, blood didn’t show any indications of poisoning so therefore pesticides weren’t the cause (and that was our first suspect). It wasn’t even a few hours since we got back home, before he suffered another one, and then another one, which brought us to the A&E vet. They gave him medications and he slept through the night. The next day he was doing well, we went for a walk and as we got home and went to take a nap another seizure happened.
We visited the vet again and he received anti-seizure medication which can take a few weeks to start working. The vet was still positive that he is fine, but they did explain to us that this could either be from old age or a leisure such as tumor in his brain that could be the reason for his behavior. Days past by and his condition went from being ok to disaster. He could walk, drink or eat on his own. He was distressed, shaking all the time and the only time he slept was when one of us took him in our arms and cradled him like a baby, and even that didn’t last long. We were in and out of the vet’s clinic, he was on a drip. We all looked like zombies with lacking sleep and taking turns to mind him.

What really concerned the vet was that he started to walk in circles and could not calm down for a second, but he said to us that he is not giving up on him.
But I have to say that a Christmas miracle happened. It might be just our luck or Santa is real because that night he finally slept all through the night without cradling him into sleep and on Christmas day it got even better because he was calmer, he was walking normally, no more circles and he was able to eat and drink on his own. The vet was happy to hear the good news but we are still going to get scan on the 7th of January to exclude any major illnesses.

He is still on medications but he is himself again.
I have to say I was really relived and extremely happy, that he is doing so well and we were able to celebrate the coming of the New Year together with some good food and lots of cuddles.
I wish you all the best possible in 2016. May this year be happy and healthy as much as it can be. May you be surrounded by people who love you. And last but not least let the year of 2016 be sprinkled with good food.

Love ya’ all
